The Singapore Packaging Star Award (SSA) is a prestigious national award honouring companies and student talents for their innovative and creative packaging designs, in areas of construction and materials usage, design, innovation technology and environmental consciousness.
Since its inception in 1998, the award organised by the Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS) drives the industry forward with the aim to promote local designs and to increase the overall standards in the industry. The award is also gateway for local companies and individuals to gain regional and even global recognition, as the winners of the Singapore Packaging Star Award will be eligible to further compete for the Asia Star Award and World Star Award.
The awards will be presented to the winners at the annual gala dinner. Out of the total of 34 winners for Singapore Packaging Star Award 2014, 14 of them have also won the Asia Star Award, and 7 for the prestigious World Star Award.
This year, the dinner will be held on 24 June at Marina Mandarin Singapore. Mr Sam Tan, Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, will grace the event as Guest-of-Honour.
An exclusive exhibition of the winning entries will be set up for viewing. Dinner guests can also enjoy a showcase of the latest packaging materials and SMART packaging solutions prior to the gala.
The dinner gala will be held in conjunction with PCS’ inaugural packaging conference. Titled “Asia Future Packaging Innovation & Technology”, the conference will be held in the morning, and features important speakers from private and public sectors. Mr Douglas Foo, President of Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Executive Chairman of Sakae Holdings Limited, will be the Guest-of-Honour at the conference.
